The QuickSchools Sign-In/Sign-Out App has undergone quite a few improvements over the years. Schools are using this app to:
- Track the exact date and time when students sign-in and sign-out of school
- Allow students to sign themselves in
- Allow parents to sign in their children
- Track the total time a student is in the school (usually for billing or compliance purposes)
You can find this app on our app store:
We’d like to take this opportunity to discuss some recent improvements since our last review was from 2020, as well as a few potential improvements moving forward:

History Tab on the Student record
Teachers and staff can now view the sign-in/sign-out history for a student directly from the student tab. This makes it easier for users to review all data pertaining to a student in one location.
NOTE: This is a welcome improvement because most apps require you to view information about the app from the app itself (and not from the student record).
Summary from Student Portal
This new feature is designed primarily for adult education. It allows students to track the amount of time they’ve completed at school, as a prerequisite for completing their course:
You can turn this feature on directly from the App:
Importer
Despite the functionality offered by the sign-in/sign-out app, some schools still want to record sign-ins via an external system, usually because of specific features like fingerprint identification. However, having this information in QuickSchools is just as valuable. So we’ve built an importer to make it easier for schools to transfer data from their external attendance system, which can then be tracked and communicated seamlessly to students via their Student Portal:
Separate Rosters (Coming Soon)
The most requested feature that is still in the works is to have a separate process for Signing In and Signing Out. Right now, in order to calculate total time spent, the system assumes the student signs in first before signing out (you can also configure the reverse, where student signs out first before signing back in). Some schools want to keep separate sign-in and sign-out rosters. More details to come.
This improvement is currently still under development. We hope to have this completed before the end of the year.
Suggestions for Improvements
Here are some other suggestions we’ve received as future improvements. If you’re interested in any of these, do let us know, so that we can bump up the priority.
- BarCode Support – Allow students to scan their Student ID Card when signing in and out
- Link to QuickSchools Attendance – Take attendance automatically when a student signs in.
As always, thank you for sharing your feedback with us. If you have further suggestions, please reach out to our support team. We’d love to hear from you.
