Schoology recently strengthened their API security standards. In response, we’ve updated the QuickSchools–Schoology Integration App (available in our App Store) so everything continues running smoothly. During this update, we also took the opportunity to enhance several features to improve your integration experience with QuickSchools.
Below is a quick walkthrough of what’s new:
Install the QuickSchools App in Schoology
With the latest upgrade, an extra step is now required to fully connect QuickSchools and Schoology.
- Log in to your Schoology account
- Go to the App Center
- Select QuickSchools–Schoology Integration
- Click Install App
This installation completes the secure handshake between the two systems.
Flexible Enrollment Synchronization
Previously, if a student was unenrolled from a class in Schoology, they were also automatically removed from the same class in QuickSchools to ensure both records matched.
You now have more control:
Admins can choose whether to keep the student enrolled in QuickSchools, even if they are removed in Schoology. This is especially useful for schools that continue tracking academic history or gradebook access within QuickSchools.
API Connection Option (Alternate Setup Method)
Schools that prefer a more customized approach can now connect QuickSchools to Schoology using Schoology API credentials:
- Create a custom app in Schoology to generate API keys
- Enter the API Key and Secret in QuickSchools under the Schoology integration settings
This method offers additional flexibility for unique IT or security requirements.
Summary Reports for Export (COMING SOON)
Whether due to Schoology API downtime or a preference for manual sync, you will soon be able to:
- Generate roster CSV files formatted to Schoology’s exact specifications
- Import the files directly into Schoology
- (Optional) Schedule automatic delivery to Schoology’s SFTP for seamless import
If you’re interested in early access or testing this feature, our support team would love to hear from you.
