Custom Attendance Codes

For schools that need to track custom attendance codes to the state, there’s a new App on QuickSchools for that called “Custom Attendance Codes”. Attendance codes can be applied to date ranges, including future date ranges. This means you can let your teachers know when a student will be absent due to vacation and travelling. Here’s a quick rundown:

When installing the app, you can specify administrators who will create the custom codes, as well as apply the custom codes to specific students:

Configure Access for Custom Attendance Codes

When setting up attendance codes, you can specify an attendance Code and Name, as well as how it relates to our existing Attendance module. You can also specify a default code when a teacher takes attendance:

Manage Custom Attendance Codes and Defaults

The “Daily Status” screen displays all students in the school, as well as any attendance codes that apply for that day. Only ONE attendance code can be applied to any date:

Apply Custom Attendance Codes to Students
Apply Custom Attendance Codes to Students

Clicking on a student will bring up all attendance codes for that student: past, present and future:

Manage applied Attendance Codes for a Student

Finally, if specified in the app configuration, the attendance roster will display any custom attendance codes that apply for that attendance date:

Allow Attendance Takers to view applied Attendance Codes in the Attendance Roster
Allow Attendance Takers to view applied Attendance Codes in the Attendance Roster

And that’s pretty much it!

  1. Love this option. Is there a way to have an attendance option that is not simply present or absent. We have to submit suspensions separately to the state. I created “suspensions” in the app but have to attach it to a standard setting.

    • Hi Megan,

Thanks for the feedback. Unfortunately, all custom attendance codes need to be mapped to an actual system attendance field. For our customers that use the Attendance Codes feature, we usually have them map suspensions to absences. And from a reporting standpoint, we deduct the suspension codes from the regular attendance codes.

Please feel free to chat in, if you need further assistance with this.

      Thanks!
